Recorder Named One of iPhone Life's Best Accessories!

Woot!  iPhone Life has just released their Buyer's Guide for Nov/Dec 2010, and Recorder's one of their recommendations.  We're in the Audio Recorders section of the Best Of: Business category, and with only 21 apps winning the Business category and five in Audio Recorders, we're really honored to have made the cut!  Check out the article here, along with the complete guide.

Recorder v. 10.1 Update

Recorder v. 10.1 finally made it to the App Store yesterday! As you probably know, the big feature added to v. 10 was call recording, and 10.1 adds a couple minor improvements.

The first addition of this release is a call recording bug fix for the crash when entering the last digit of the number being dialed. No more need to enter numbers into your contacts first!

Probably the more exciting addition for most people, however, is the ability to turn off the call recording notification given to the receiving party! But don't get too excited just yet - you need to research state laws before turning off the call record notification.

Some states require that both parties know the call is being recorded! If you don't know your laws or what laws apply to you just keep the notification on. I know that'll probably bum some people out, but alas! we have to abide by the law.

Recorder 10.0 Update Has Call Recording

This is probably old news by now, but yes, Recorder now allows users to record outgoing calls made through Recorder! Because the iPhone's SDK doesn't provide a way to directly record calls, the feature works by connecting the call to an external service which connects and records the call. Since there are costs associated with maintaining this system, there is a small fee to record calls which ends up being a few cents per second.

Sessions of call recording can be purchased in increments of one or eight hours, and you can record as many conversations as you want until the minutes are up! Even though the call is connected through our service, the call recipient still sees your number in their phone. Right now the service is only available in the US, but we're working to get it set up in other countries as well.

Recorder Version 8 Update

I know that we haven't been talking too much about Recorder since the release of Seek 'n Spell, but there just hasn't been that much to talk about. But at last version 8 of Recorder is available with exciting new features and an updated design worthy of a post.

The latest additions to the Recorder functionality are trim and loop! The detail screen which shows the date, file size, and length of the recording now offers the options of trimming and looping your recording. Tap the little scissor-shaped icon, a new screen slides in, and drag in the ends of the slider to section off the recording. Then loop through the section you want to hear repeated, or trim off the unnecessary parts of the recording.
