Air Guitar Move for iPhone
You know what's missing from all those Guitar Hero-esque apps? The ability to actually move like you're playing a guitar. Well fear not, Retronyms' friends at Yobble will be releasing an app that does just that later this year - Air Guitar Move. Complete with accelerometer-equipped guitar pick that senses just how hard you rock, the two apps will let you jam to your favorite songs or improvise on the fly. Keep an eye out for the release later this year, and if you want to speed up the production process, you can contribute to their Kickstarter campaign.

FourTrack in Rolling Stone!
Phish frontman Trey Anastasio has mentioned previously that he really likes FourTrack and uses it a ton. This time he's giving a shout out in the latest issue of Rolling Stone! Here's exactly what he has to say in "What I'm Excited About":
I'm obsessed with this recording app on my iPhone - the Sonoma Wire Works FourTrack. It's like you have a superpowerful studio in your pocket. I can record basically anywhere. Like, I was having lunch with a friend Steve Pollak in New York recently; he brought a bunch of lyrics, and we stared writing on the spot - we were on the corner of 94th and Amsterdam, singing harmonies and bass lines at the top of our lungs into the earpiece. People eventually started gathering around us. The demo captured that whole vibe - the excitement of being out on the street. I don't think I would've even remembered the melody by the time I got home. We took it to band practice, learned the tune right off the demo, didn't change one thing. And now we're going to play the song, "Show of Life," on this summer's tour.Gotta say, I never get tired of hearing about our products being used by such talented musicians!

What Do These Apps Have in Common? An App Store Feature!
That's right, two of the apps we've partnered with other companies to produce are now featured in the App Store!First on the list is Justin.tv, the video streaming iPhone app for the website of the same name. This app has been out for a while, and you can browse all the channels on wifi and 3G. If you've got a Justin.tv account, log in to chat with everyone who's watching the same channel that you are. If you don't, create an account right in the app!
The second is StudioTrack, the iPad incarnation of FourTrack plus more tracks and features. StudioTrack just made to the App Store for the iPad launch, and man, are we excited about this one. It uses the iPad's better processing power to make FourTrack into a bona fide studio-quality multitrack recorder. You get eight tracks to work with, you can add effects to each track, and so much more! If people were writing songs with FourTrack, I can't wait to see what they do with StudioTrack.

FourTrack 3.0 Is Out...
Which means you can finally use the new AudioCopy feature in DopplerPad with the AudioPaste feature in FourTrack! Now you can take the loops created in DopplerPad and import them into FourTrack for vocal and instrumental additions.
AudioCopy uploads whatever loops are in Pads A and B, and you can paste up to 100 loops for whatever new beats you'll be laying down. Vox3000 v.2 also has Audio Copy and the next Instant Drummer update will also have AudioCopy/Paste into FourTrack, so keep an eye out!

Seek n Spell 1.3 in the App Store
The next update to Seek 'n Spell is finally available in the App Store! Version 1.3 has one very exciting new feature: automated computer-generated players for some extra competition. The CPU players can be added to multiplayer games but are probably most beneficial for single player games so there's way more motivation to run around to get letters. But beware, they're pretty good, so if you're just puttering around, taking your good old time to collect letters, there is a very good chance that you'll lose! We've also developed a free version of the game for the iPhone, Seek 'n Spell Lite, which is still under review but should be out soon. This app isn't ad-supported, but alas, you only get a measly ten minutes to play per day, and this version doesn't have the computer-generated players. To anyone who might feel the need to whine about this, you're right. This is all an evil ploy to let you try out Seek 'n Spell, only to find that the ten minutes allotted per day does nothing to satisfy your running/spelling lust, forcing you to upgrade to the paid version [insert menacing laugh].
In other exciting news, Seek 'n Spell will no longer be exclusive to the iPhone! We're putting the finishing touches on the Android version of Seek 'n Spell, and it'll soon be available in the market. It will have all the same features as the iPhone version, and what's even better is that iPhones and Android phones can play in the same game! Yes, here we are bridging the gap between Apple and Google, to bring people with smartphones together for fun-filled outdoor spelling competitions. We'll keep you posted on when Seek 'n Spell is officially in the Android market and Seek 'n Spell Lite is in the App Store!

Recorder v. 10.1 Update
Recorder v. 10.1 finally made it to the App Store yesterday! As you probably know, the big feature added to v. 10 was call recording, and 10.1 adds a couple minor improvements. The first addition of this release is a call recording bug fix for the crash when entering the last digit of the number being dialed. No more need to enter numbers into your contacts first!
Probably the more exciting addition for most people, however, is the ability to turn off the call recording notification given to the receiving party! But don't get too excited just yet - you need to research state laws before turning off the call record notification.
Some states require that both parties know the call is being recorded! If you don't know your laws or what laws apply to you just keep the notification on. I know that'll probably bum some people out, but alas! we have to abide by the law.

Recorder 10.0 Update Has Call Recording
This is probably old news by now, but yes, Recorder now allows users to record outgoing calls made through Recorder! Because the iPhone's SDK doesn't provide a way to directly record calls, the feature works by connecting the call to an external service which connects and records the call. Since there are costs associated with maintaining this system, there is a small fee to record calls which ends up being a few cents per second.Sessions of call recording can be purchased in increments of one or eight hours, and you can record as many conversations as you want until the minutes are up! Even though the call is connected through our service, the call recipient still sees your number in their phone. Right now the service is only available in the US, but we're working to get it set up in other countries as well.

DopplerPad Expressive Touch Instrument in the App Store!
In a nutshell, DopplerPad is the most exciting new thing to come to the iPhone music category since FourTrack. Rather than being a music recording application, DopplerPad is a live performance and music production app. Its interface mimics the standard DJ setup of a mixer and two turntables, and replaces the turntables with music-producing touchpads.
The mixer provides access to the two touchpads, their playback controls, a crossfader, and a loop bank. Tap Pad A or Pad B to open up a touchpad and start making music.
Tap the top of the screen to open the loop menu and set the tempo and number of beats for the loop. You can set the loop to 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 beats.
There are 37 instruments you can choose from, out of bass, drums, leads, sound effects, pads, and samplers. Tap the square button at the bottom of the screen labeled with the instrument class to open the menu, scroll through the instruments, and select what you want to play. Test out the instrument before closing the menu by tapping the open space on the touchpad below the loop menu.
A scale editor and gate/arpeggiator let you edit what notes are available to play on the touchpad and create rhythmic patterns.
When you play the touchpad, the notes light up on screen. Overdub instruments onto the loop, or play along with what's there.
If you want to record additional audio and include it in the mix you're making, select one of the samplers from the instrument menu. Tap sample to record up to 4s of audio, and tap the section of the sample that you want to hear to play it back.
Once you've perfected your loop, tap the arrow in the bottom inside corner of the screen to go back to the mixer, and drag the visualizations from the touchpad to the loop bank to store recordings. You can play a loop on each touchpad and crossfade between the two, mute one of the pads, or repeat a beat.
Maybe even more exciting than DopplerPad's release is a video contest we're holding to see who can make the most awesome DopplerPad track. The contest continues until August 21, and the winner gets an iPhone 3GS! Check out the site for all the details on the contest and how DopplerPad works.
We're pretty excited about DopplerPad, and we hope you will be too! Let us know what you think about it!
